2017 Ichiro Suzuki Final Career Home Run Game Worn & Signed
Miami Marlins Jersey. His primary claim to fame is and always
will be his career tally of 4,367 hits, a figure that would place
Pete Rose's crown upon his head had not the first 1,278 of them
come on the other side of the Pacific Ocean. The former Orix Blue
Wave star of Japan's Nippon League made his American debut in 2001
at age twenty-seven, proceeding to record more hits in his first
Major League decade than any other player in any decade ever. Not
Cobb, not Sisler, not Williams, not anybody has hit safely 2,244
times in any consecutive ten-season span but this man.Though the subject jersey's connection to Ichiro's 117th and final Major League home run is undeniably its primary appeal, television footage notes that this 21st pinch hit appearance for the Marlins set a new franchise record. That three-run tie-breaking bomb to right-center field at Philadelphia would prove to be the first of three homers in the top half of the seventh inning on August 22, 2017, with Giancarlo Stanton and Marcell Ozuna providing what would ultimately be the deciding runs in the twelve-to-eight victory. It would be Major League hit number 3,067 for Ichiro, just twenty-two short of his ultimate career tally.
The black "Flex Base" jersey features a colorful "Miami" on the chest and a memorial patch for Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez, who perished in a boating accident in the final days of the 2016 season. Verso announces "Ichiro" in white and number "51" in red, each trimmed in silver shimmer fabric. Lower left front tail bears "Majestic Authentic Collection Size 42" tagging with holographic authentication stickers from Major League Baseball and Ichiro himself, who signs the back of the shirt in bold silver sharpie with a notation reading, "#51, 8-22-17, 117 HR." Game wear is appropriate for a pinch hit appearance. MLB Authentic JB983545. LOA from Mill Creek. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
