2004 Mariano Rivera 300th Career Save Game Worn & Signed
Fielder's Glove with Rivera Letter. As of the time of this
writing, only thirty men in Major League history have recorded 300
saves, a fact that puts The Sandman's outrageous career tally of
652 into its proper perspective. One could argue that no player in
baseball history has ever been more dominant in his specific role,
and Rivera's status as the first player in history to enter the
Baseball Hall of Fame on a unanimous ballot validates how
widespread that opinion is.The presented fielder's glove finds the greatest closer of all time still short of the halfway point of his Major League-leading tally as he locked down his milestone 300th save during a May 28, 2004 New York Yankees visit to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. He'd allow one hit and no runs in his defense of a seven-to-five Yankees victory.
The black leather Nike PPRO GOLD MO 42 model glove exhibits solid game wear and perfectly matches video and photography from that evening under the Tropicana Dome. Rivera boldly signed the back of the glove in silver sharpie, adding the important text, "Game Used 300th Save, 5/28/04."
