Description

1997 Florida Marlins World Series Championship Ring from The Devon White Collection. History was made twice in October of 1997, when the Marlins became both the youngest expansion franchise (fifth season of existence) and the first Wild Card team to win the World Series. Here's the gleaming symbol of that groundbreaking achievement, issued to seven-time Gold Glove winner Devon White, the last batter before Edgar Renteria's Game Seven walk-off single set production into motion.

Crafted from ten karat yellow gold, the ring features a real diamond-studded face with fish logo and initial "F." Raised text reading "1997 World Champions" rings the perimeter. Left shank announces "5th Season" with another logo marlin. White's surname and jersey number are denoted above and below respectively. A miniature World Series trophy design dominates the right shank, with "Marlins, One Heartbeat" text. Engraved text reading "Center Fielder" and a "10K" stamp appear at interior band, which measures to a size eleven and a half (11.5). Weight is sixty-one grams (61 g.).

Proud wear is evident but the ring displays beautifully. It is housed in a cherry wood display case that we do not believe is team-issued. A portion of the proceeds from this sale will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society. Letter of provenance from Devon White.
