1971 Brooks Robinson Game Worn Baltimore Orioles Jersey, MEARS A9.5. One of the greatest honors that we have been granted here at Heritage Sports was the opportunity to present to the collecting community The Brooks Robinson Collection, a thrilling assortment of Gold Gloves, Championship rings and various other tools and treasures consigned by the Hall of Fame icon. If there was any notable absence from that million-dollar assembly, it was game used flannel, so we're pleased to present this high-grade gamer to our legions of Robinson fans.The road grey garment found the legendary third baseman touring American League parks as a defending World Champion, the O's having toppled the Cincinnati Reds in the 1970 Fall Classic, with Robinson claiming the honor of Series MVP. But there was no resting on those considerable laurels in 1971, as Brooks continued his lengthy, unbroken streak of All-Star nods and Gold Gloves en route to a fourth-place finish in American League MVP balloting.
The jersey presents without a single visual distraction, the half-point deduction by MEARS due only to some fabric separation at the interior collar swatch and a reinforced button on the chest. "Baltimore" is applied in two-tone scripted tackle twill to chest, followed up by an arching "B. Robinson" and the fabled number "5" on verso. Interior collar swatch reports, "42 71 Set 2 5," while lower left front tail completes the tangible specs with a "71" year tag and "42" size tag framing a "Spalding Professional" manufacturer's label. A blue sharpie signature from the jersey's original owner appears at right chest. Solid game wear. A Cooperstown-quality jersey for the advanced collector. LOA from MEARS, A9.5.
