"The scariest hitter in baseball." -- Bob Gibson

1970 Willie McCovey Game Worn San Francisco Giants Jersey, MEARS A9.5. He wore the double-fours to distinction for nineteen seasons of San Francisco Giants service, hitting both the most and the longest long balls ever launched at Candlestick Park. This home white flannel beauty found the original Big Mac at the peak of his hard-slugging prime, the third of three consecutive seasons as owner of the National League's top slugging percentage. McCovey would match the 126 RBI's of his 1969 MVP season, the highest production of his twenty-two-year career.

The classic design of the offered garment worn boasts "Giants" in Halloween-colored tackle twill, with number "44" similarly applied to verso. Interior collar holds embroidered "McCovey" swatch, with "1970" embroidered to a white felt swatch at the jersey tail beneath a "Wilson [size] 44" label. The garment exhibits solid season-long wear but presents beautifully, with even the half-point deduction for wear to the soutache feeling overly harsh. A large black sharpie signature on lower left chest completes a picture-perfect display. LOA from MEARS, A9.5. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from SGC Authentic.
