    Description

1966 Roberto Clemente Game Used Bat, PSA/DNA GU 10--MVP Season! It's been nearly a half century since this noble hero of our national pastime disappeared beneath the waves of the Atlantic, but his legend has only grown since his sudden and tragic demise, a fact borne out by a $198,000 result for his 1971 World Series bat in our most recent Platinum Night auction. Here we present a bat likewise blessed by elite historical placement and a flawless rating from the experts at PSA/DNA.

As a detailed, handwritten letter from hobby icon Bob Case confirms, this signature model Hillerich & Bradsby U1 derives from Clemente's glorious 1966 National League MVP season. Though, ironically, this was the only season between 1964 and 1967 in which the superstar outfielder did not claim the National League batting title, Clemente's slugging numbers surged for career highs in home runs (29), total bases (342) and runs batted in (119).

The thick constellation of ball marks and stitch impressions on the barrel speak to that power surge, supplying evidence of game use characterized as "outstanding" by the experts at PSA/DNA. Somehow, the handle remains miraculously uncracked. Length is thirty-six inches (36"), weight just short of thirty-eight ounces (37.6 oz.). Number "21" appears in vintage ink on knob. PSA/DNA confirms the bat is correct for use in Clemente's 1966 masterpiece. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 10. Letter of provenance from Bob Case.
