The first West Coast Championship hardware from a beloved baseball icon

1959 Los Angeles Dodgers World Championship Ring Presented to Don Zimmer. The recent loss of this sixty-six year veteran of professional baseball broke hearts at every level of the game, from Rays rookies only beginning to get to know the charismatic veteran to octogenarian former teammates who remembered "Popeye" as a feisty young shortstop in the standard slick-fielding, weak-hitting tradition of the period. Through sixty-six seasons, Zim was always considered a model teammate and a fierce competitor, famously scrapping with Red Sox ace Pedro Martinez during the 2003 ALCS despite a four-decade age differential.

Presented is the second of six World Championship rings earned by Zimmer during his distinguished decades of service, and one of two claimed as a player (the other being the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers model). This pristine specimen is noteworthy as the first of the Major Leagues' west coast expansion, claimed after a six-game World Series battle with the famous Chicago "Go-Go" Sox.

The ring is crafted from fourteen karat white gold (with "Balfour 14K" stamping inside band) and features a sparkling fifty point diamond set into a Dodgers blue stone on the face. "Los Angeles World Champions" stands in raised lettering at the perimeter. Left shank features ball and bats imagery, the former engraved with Zimmer's facsimile signature. Right shank announces the "1959" vintage with imagery of Los Angeles City Hall and the team logo. Band measures to size eight and a half.
