The only All-Star bat delivered to The Kid in 1955!

1955 Ted Williams All-Star Game Used Bat, PSA/DNA GU 10. It's common knowledge among experienced game used bat collectors that participants in the Midsummer Classic were commonly issued two special bats for use in the exhibition, but the ordering records at Hillerich & Bradsby make note of only a single example delivered to this Red Sox superstar in 1955. The model is Williams' favored signature model W166, identical to those produced for regular season action but for the "All Star Game, Milwaukee 1955" text framing his facsimile signature on the barrel.

This twenty-second edition of the sport's most celebrated exhibition is best remembered today for Stan Musial's twelfth-inning walk-off home run to claw all the way back from a five-to-nothing deficit at the end of six innings, but this bat nearly denied The Man that heroic feat. After going one-for-three with a single and a run scored, Williams stepped to the plate in the top of the seventh with a man on base and walloped a Don Newcombe pitch to deep center field. Willie Mays tracked it back and timed his jump perfectly, gloving it a full three feet above the top of the outfield wall to rob a home run and an advancement of the American League lead to seven.

The bat is perfect in every regard for the game's greatest hitter, exhibiting his classic mid-1950's pine tar application and approximately a dozen ball marks concentrated on the left barrel. Handle is uncracked. Length is thirty-five inches (35"), weight thirty-one and a half ounces (31.4 oz.). A marvelous exemplar from a season that Williams batted a scorching .356 that would have won the American League batting title if a month of inactivity at the start of the season due to a divorce settlement had not limited at-bats below the required minimum. LOA from PSA/DNA, GU 10.
