    Description

    1955-56 Roberto Clemente Original Photograph by Don Wingfield, PSA/DNA Type 1. The term "hero" is applied too freely to the American sports star, but Clemente's martyrdom in the cause of humanitarian relief leave no question that it is apt in this association. The legendary Pirate was in the early stages his career when this 8x10" photograph was captured by Don Wingfield. According to Henry Yee's letter of provenance, the offered photo was taken in either 1955 or '56. Clemente is looking intently ahead with his signature Hillerich & Bradsby model bat in hand. The front shows light handling wear with a crease on the upper left corner. "Photo by Don Wingfield" is stamped on back. There are tape remnants on the sides. Also included is a letter of authenticity from the Photo File Archive. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, Type 1. LOA from The Photo File Archive.
