1954 Bowman Ted Williams #66 SGC EX+ 5.5. Cards featuring Ted Williams hardly need any more hype. After his rookie card debut in the'39 Play Ball series, his most famous card is his 1954 Bowman card. The card that never should have been. Williams had an exclusive contract with Topps in '54 and they were certainly happy to wave this in the face of Bowman Gum as they forced them to halt production and circulation of card #66 which has a now classic smiling portrait of Ted that at the time only a limited number of kids could add to his/her collection. Exactly how "limited" the supply is, is up for debate but one famous story was told by Larry Fritsch who said he opened a pack of '54 Bowman and found all five cards inside were #66 Ted Williams. Today, THAT would be a six-figure pack. Our offered card is a very clean and vivid example. Graded SGC EX+ 5.5.
