    Description

1952 Topps Mickey Mantle #311 SGC 80 EX/NM 6. Originating from the highly coveted high number run that closed the first and some say the finest baseball card promotion ever - the 1952 Topps set of 407 cards. Many stars and HoFers make appearance in the first series but Topps held back a few established New Yorkers for the final push like Roy Campanella, Pee Wee Reese and Leo Durocher plus Gil McDougald, Al Dark and making his first appearance after his famous home run, Bobby Thomson. And yes, a relative future bonafide baseball legend in Mickey Mantle.

Without a doubt, this is the most important and sought after of all post-war cards. This clean and very colorful example has been graded SGC 80 EX/NM 6. Horizontal centering and modest levels of wear at the corners accounts for the SGC assessment. Largely unhandled for close to sixty years the rich and vibrant hues are what catches your attention and keeps your gaze. Fresh gloss and precise print registration are added bonuses. Yes, you will see a higher graded examples and they will be impressive for sure. Will that card command your attention and make you pause for an immensely satisfying and nostalgic moment? Maybe not. This card is a fantastic example.
