1952 Topps Andy Pafko #1 PSA NM 7 - Only Five Higher. Baseball cards have been a part of American history dating back to the 1880's. Among the dozens and dozens of annual offerings that brought our favorite players into our households there is one set that has come to define not only the golden-age of the collecting - the 1950's - they represent everything great about collecting baseball cards. They bring back our days of being in awe by our favorite player, one day hitting the game winning home run in game seven of the World Series and to one day see ourselves on a card. Somewhere in there are memories of flipping and listening to the "roaring" sound they made when mounted in the wheel of our bicycles giving that sound that made us the coolest kid on the block. It was 1952 and a kid had nothing to worry about being other than a kid.

Graded PSA NM 7. Except on the north-side of Chicago, Andy Pafko is not a well-known name. He holds the honor of being the inaugural entry in the landmark 1952 Topps series. His would be the first card on the pile be it your personal set or just duplicates. Today, finding a high-grade example is not easy. Of the close to 1,300 submitted to PSA, only 3% have graded NM or higher. The offered card has very minor and totally anticipated faults. The only surprise is a pleasant one in that it seem to have avoided all the potential pitfalls for the last 67 years.
