Description
1951 Wheaties Photo Premium Mickey Mantle #G PSA Good 2 (MK). The "Other" Mantle rookie. In 1951 Wheaties featured a set of six athletes on the back panel of single-serve size boxes of cereal. While Mantle does not appear as part of that promotion, he is the now key entry among the rare 5x7" photo premiums that may or may not have received official public circulation or were just test marketed to what must have been a very small geographic area. Either way these photo premiums are very scarce and highly prized. With no advertising, we associate them with Wheaties as the portraits used match those used for the issued cards. Mickey Mantle is by far the most sought after as it is one of his earliest appearance on any type of collectible. Graded PSA Good 2 (MK).Auction Info
