1948-49 Toleteros Hilton Smith PSA EX-MT 6 - Pop One, One Higher. The hobby is all the better thanks to sponsors like Toleteros who produced baseball cards of many athletes that would be all but forgotten by time. The Winter Leagues of Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico, etc. showcased and were organized by many stars of the Negro League with the occasional player with Major League experience. A notable star was Hilton Smith who pitched for at least 12 years for the Kansas City Monarchs. An arm like a cannon, Smith is renowned for his lightening fastball and a particularly strong curveball, both delivered with an uncanny accuracy. This 1948-49 Toleteros card of the 2001 Hall of Fame inductee is the first of only two cards on which he is featured during his career. Graded PSA EX 5. One of only four graded by PSA.
