    Description

1937 Tony Lazzeri Single Signed Baseball, PSA/DNA EX-MT 6. If Lou Gehrig lived in the shadow of Babe Ruth, you can only imagine what life was like for Tony Lazzeri, who would have led the American League in homers during the fabled 1927 Yankees season if not for his two mega-star teammates. Like the man with whom he shared the right side of the Yankee infield for a dozen seasons, Lazzeri's life was far too short, the hard-slugging second sacker passing away in 1946 at age forty-two. These facts have served to limit the availability of Lazzeri singles to just a tiny handful--in fact, this is only the third such example to reach the auction block of a major house in the twenty-first century.

The early Italian-American star takes up an entire side panel on this Amateur League baseball. The signature rates 7/10 and includes the following inscription:"Chicago Cubs Dec 1937." The non-official ball rates 5/10. Overall, one of the nicest Lazzeri singles we have had the pleasure of offering. Full Grading LOA from PSA/DNA, EX-MT 6.
