Description

One of Only Six Known in Mint 9!

1933 Goudey Babe Ruth #181 PSA Mint 9. Magnificent representation of this key card from one of the hobby's most beloved issues transports us back to the days of the Depression without the unpleasantness of failed banks and bread lines. This has always been our favorite of the three Ruth poses within this first great issue of the bubble gum era, an honest portrait with all the wrinkles and rotundity that the others gloss over.

Certainly it goes without saying that Babe Ruth is the top star of this first great bubble gum issue, and presented is one of just six Mint 9 representations of his #181 card. Just a single Gem Mint 10 specimen surpasses it. It also bears mentioning that a total of just eleven Mint 9 examples of 1933 Ruth Goudeys appear in the PSA population from all four variations, establishing this exquisite slab of cardboard as one of the most important gum cards that exists, period.

A condition report is hardly necessary, as the exacting graders at PSA are never generous with Mint 9 ratings. Corners are sharp enough to draw blood, colors are bold, registration perfect, and even the centering allows no room for improvement. It's a card worthy of every superlative directed its way.
