Description

1932 U.S. Caramel Mickey Cochrane #12 PSA NM-MT+ 8.5 - Pop One, None Higher! The association between caramel and cards was in the final stages when U.S. Caramel gave the hobby this 32-card series of the great sports figures in 1932. Noted for their distinctive red backgrounds, this format offers great eye appeal in any condition. To see one so immensely fresh and bright you are literally taken back in time, your awe being the same as that lucky youngster over eight decades ago pulling it from its sealed was paper enclosure. And then putting it away and never touching it again it seems. This would be no small feat for any featured player. Mickey Cochrane was much more than just one of the best back-stops in baseball history. His skills as a manager elevated his Detroit Tigers to World Champions in 1935. As a player and manager with both the Tigers and Phil. Athletics, he was part of five pennant winning teams, three World Series championships and two American League MVP awards (1928 and 1934).

Graded PSA NM-MT+ 8.5. The only example graded NM-MT+ with none graded higher. This stunning card is about as nice a 1930's vintage card of any designation you'll see. The most hawkish eye will see the very minuscule amount of corner wear at the upper right tip and that is all one will find. All the high quality details are immediately overshadowed by the vibrant and bold portrait of a smiling Cochrane, smiling because he knows he looks amazing surrounded by the four vivid white borders on a surface as smooth as silk. All that remains is the centering which is the epitome of precision. A fantastic addition to your vintage collection.
