1928 Tabacalera La Morena Lou Gehrig/Babe Ruth #100 SGC Fair 1.5 - Only Two SGC/PSA Graded Examples! From a new to the hobby collection. One of the more exciting cards from this rare series is card #100 that features a single portrait of Yankee legends Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth. You would think there is at least one card produced in the USA to feature the duo but no, only a few Exhibits of composite style offering four players. Both players are coming off career years in 1927 with Gehrig getting AL MVP honors (he did play in all 155 games, hit 52 doubles, 173 RBIs and bat .373) over Ruth and his historic 60 home runs. No two teammates are more connected than Ruth & Gehrig. They are the "Lennon & McCartney" of our National Pastime and their legacy is as deep and endearing today - just about a full century later - as it was in their heyday. There is some surface loss in the upper portion to largely account for the grade. Graded SGC Fair 1.5 with a high-quality photo and hand color adornment. This is the only two examples on the SGC census.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
