    Description

1923 Yankee Stadium Grand Opening Official Program. On April 18, 1923, Babe Ruth christened his House with the Bronx baseball palace's first long ball, and a four to one victory over his former club, the Boston Red Sox. "Some ball yard," he told reporters asking for a post-game commentary. While the reproductions of this coveted publication--issued at the time of the 1976 Stadium reopening--are fairly commonly encountered, just a scant few have survived from the original 1923 Grand Opening.

This most coveted publication from the full history of the Bronx landmark ranks with the finest of that severely endangered species, exhibiting common edge and corner wear with a half-inch tear to rear cover and a few internal pages the most serious fault to report. It remains solid, compete and unscored. An essential relic commemorating the beginning of a golden era in Yankees history.
