1917 Boston Store Ty Cobb #30 SGC 84 NM 7 - Pop One, None Higher! For a century now, fans have debated who is the greatest hitter in baseball history. While Joe Jackson is a popular choice, his status compared to Ty Cobb will always be a close runner-up. Ty Cobb won his first batting title in 1907 with a .350 average. Batting coronations would be in his future each and every year until 1919 except for 1916 when the Georgia Peach batted "only" .370 and lost to Tris Speaker and his mammoth .386 average that year. For those who ask, What about Pete Rose? Yes, Rose amassed a greater quantity of hits but ole' Charlie Hustle needed a couple thousand extra trips to the plate and hit a much livelier ball.

Trading card bearing his name and likeness are treasured above all with maybe a nod to Babe Ruth. Our offering is for card #82 from the very scarce 1917 Boston Store card that depicts the legend with the lumber that made him stand taller than all others and at 6' 1" it isn't like he needed any intimidation factor.

Graded SGC 84 NM 7. Our offered card is the finest example known in an SGC or PSA holder. The combine total census is a paltry dozen examples which explains why this card is missing from so many collections. A strong example, surfaces are free of any blemishes and stains. The corners show very gentle wear at the outer tips. Centering is mildly off-set vertically and horizontally. Few would dispute that high-grade Ty Cobb cards are the most highly prized additions to any collection. Acquiring a card from such a scarce promotion makes this opportunity even more enticing and satisfying.
