1915 Cracker Jack Honus Wagner #68 PSA NM-MT 8. "There is something Lincolnesque about him." Pulitzer Prize-winning sports journalist Arthur Daley once wrote, "...his rugged homeliness, his simplicity, his integrity, and his true nobility of character." Hall of Fame manager John McGraw considered him the greatest ballplayer of all time, and Ty Cobb recalled him as the one man he could not intimidate. He claimed eight National League batting titles and led the Senior Circuit five times in base thefts while earning a reputation as the greatest defensive shortstop of the early twentieth century.Graded PSA NM-MT 8. One of seventeen in NM-MT. Only four have rated higher. Out of the box or through the mail, imagine the inclination of youngsters who would have pulled these cards from a box of Cracker Jacks and played with or glued them down over a century ago. Corners are razor-sharp, colors are remarkably fresh, favorite characteristics when cards fail to dim by the passing decades. Somehow this beauty survived in spectacular physical condition that, even after more than a century of existence, suggests careful curatorship. Many cards from this issue were doomed from the start but this model is free of any such distractions more than likely due to the complete set and album mail-in offer found on the back of each 1915 card.
