1915 Cracker Jack Eddie Plank #6 PSA Mint 9 - Pop Two, None Higher. Eddie Plank reigns as the other "Holy Grail" of the hobby from the same immensely popular tobacco card issue along with the fabled Honus Wagner. They share a maddening elusiveness and an apocryphal tale accounting for their rarity. While the Old Dutchman is said to have demanded withdrawal of his image from the card set based upon the noble objective that he play no role in the encouragement of youth smoking, the leading theory for Plank's short print involves a broken printing plate that ended production of his card shortly after it began. These issues remain a point of debate over a century later.

Starting with the dawn of the new century and lasting for 14 seasons, Plank and the Philadelphia Athletics were at the height of their collective powers. The elite southpaw posted a 2.39 ERA and averaged 20 wins per year leading the White Elephants to six pennants and three World Championships. His trade was crafted on the blood-soaked grounds of America's most hallowed battlefield, fashioning his slab of baseball immortality with a sidearm curveball that earned him 326 Major League victories. He is best remembered for his fourteen seasons of service to the first great Philadelphia Athletics dynasty but here we find him with the St. Louis Terriers of the rouge Federal League just two years away from retirement. Only eight and a half years after pitching his last game, Plank fell victim to a fatal stroke at age fifty.

Graded PSA Mint 9. One of only two in MINT. None have rated higher. While "Gettysburg Eddie" is a rare sight to card collecting smokers. He is a more common sight to card collectors with a sweet tooth. His appearances in the American, Standard and Philadelphia Caramel issues are prized acquisitions as are his two Cracker Jack cards, in any condition let alone one this immaculate. The card earns every point of its elite rating and features a unique to the series portrait offering an abundance of rich, subdued colors, sharp registration and sparkling clear surfaces.
