1913 Barnum & Bailey Famous Elephant Base Ball Team Circus Poster. The popularity of baseball knows no bounds. Since the 1800's, the sport has grabbed at our heartstrings as the snow melts and stays with us until the dreaded white stuff is set to return once again. The circus always brought out crowds through the years. Baseball and the circus are intertwined in this listing which promotes an elephant baseball game. We could only imagine the battle staged when these two teams got together. This colorful creation (32x22.75" entirety) has a linen backing and features bold graphics. "The Barnum & Bailey Greatest Show on Earth" is featured across the front while the bottom edge lists: "Mooney's Giants The Big League Leaders The Famous Elephant Base Ball Team." We particularly like the masks which are situated on two elephants' faces. One even has a catcher's mask affixed to its tusk.

Only a few of these rare promotional posters have surfaced and one is/was on display at Cooperstown. According to one source, there were two sizes of this type of poster issued, this being the smaller version. The larger issue features the likeness of Barnum and Bailey in the upper left corner. A vertical crease spans from the middle to the bottom but this beauty is eminently displayable. Baseball and the circus are strange bedfellows to say the least. They are quite the team in this listing.
