1910 Eddie Collins Signed Letter. Eddie Collins spent a full quarter century in a Major League uniform splitting his time between the Chicago White Sox and the Philadelphia Athletics. He is revered as one of the greatest second basemen in the history of the sport but his talents did not stop there. No American Leaguer stepped on home plate more often during the first great Philadelphia Athletics dynasty than this man. Collins paced the Junior Circuit in runs scored every year between 1912 and 1914. Blazing foot speed helped snag 741 bases that would ultimately elevate him to a top ten career ranking in stolen bases. The legendary infielder, a key member of Connie Mack's fabled "$100,000 Infield" would make a half-dozen Fall Classic appearances during his quarter-century of Major League service, winning three with the Athletics and a fourth as a member of the 1917 White Sox. A fifth win 1919 will go down in history as "might have been."

In the batter's box, Collins was a constant threat. His stats include 3,325 hits, 1,299 RBIs and a lifetime .333 batting average that all but cemented his properly entrance into the Baseball Hall of Fame as a member of the inaugural class of 1939.

Offered is an 8.5x11" typed letter by Collins in regards to a brewing contract dispute that would lead him to exit Philly four years later. Moderate wear with folding, edge tears, extraneous writing, and staining found on this early-career piece which "Cocky" has signed in black fountain pen using his full name. Pre-Certified by PSA/DNA.
