1909-11 T206 Sweet Caporal 150/30 Ty Cobb (Bat On Shoulder) PSA NM+ 7.5. Ty Cobb was at the apex of his considerable during the entire second decade of the 20th Century. His league-leading numbers in 1911 seem almost unbelievable: .420 average, 248 hits, 47 doubles, 24 triples, 127 RBIs, 83 stolen bases! Despite his vicious temperament that likely kept him out of the running other seasons, the American League had no choice but to crown him Most Valuable Player, the only season he was honored as such. Look closely at the image of the Peach, painted close to a century ago, and you can see it in his eyes. Though he stands before a serene background of soft pastel, the stare is one of great determination. It's one of the finest portraits in the long and impressive history of baseball card art.

Graded PSA NM+ 7.5. Extending outward from this classic image, we come to four white borders and corners offering showing mild signs of aging. Otherwise we can identify no caveats worthy of mention, as colors are bright, registration is tight leaving a inviting representation of the menacing Cobb leering at the pitcher. The back displays a "Sweet Caporal - 150 Subjects" ad with a factory 30 caption. One of the finer "Bat On Shoulder" cards of any format. After well over 800 submissions, this is the lone card graded NM+ with a dozen rated higher.

Guide Value or Estimate: $40,000 - up.
