1909-11 T206 Sovereign 350 Ty Cobb Portrait-Red PSA EX 5 - Only One Higher for Brand/Series. "Baseball is a red-blooded sport for red-blooded men. It's not pink tea, and mollycoddles had better stay out. It's.... survival of the fittest," are the words Ty Cobb used to describe the sport he dominated with raw skill, superior intellect, and abject daring. Offered is a classic T206 card of the fiercest competitor in baseball history.

The singular event in Cobb's life was that on August 8, 1905, Cobb's mother fatally shot his father. Apparently suspecting his wife of infidelity, Cobb's father was outside her bedroom window. Charged with murder, Cobb's mother was acquitted based on her contention that she thought the man outside her window was an intruder. Less than three weeks later, 18-year-old Cobb was called up from the minors to the Detroit Tigers. Partially as a result of the controversial death of his father, Cobb broke into the majors with a combative attitude, and that lasted for his entire 24-year Major League career, all but two years with Detroit. Hall of Famer Cobb batted .366 lifetime, still the highest lifetime average in history. Cobb held the all-time Major League hit record at 4,191 until Pete Rose broke it in 1985. Cobb also held the all-time Major League stolen base record of 892 broken by Lou Brock in 1977 and later exceeded by Rickey Henderson. Cobb hit over.400 three times, won a Triple Crown and an MVP, and 11 or 12 batting titles (the 1910 AL batting title is in dispute). A T206 card of the greatest player of the Deadball Era is quite a find.

Graded PSA EX 5. Of the over 2,200 total cards submitted to PSA, only fifty are confirmed with the Sovereign brand, and less than half are from series 350.
