1909-11 T206 Polar Bear Ty Cobb (Red Portrait) PSA NM-MT 8 - Pop One, None Higher for Brand! Soon after his Detroit Tigers fell to the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1909 World Series, the only meeting between these two Dead Ball era legends, Cobb lamented of Honus Wagner, "That god damned Dutchman is the only man in the game I can't scare." It was around that time that two of the most famous baseball cards in the collecting hobby were born, each a member of the fabled T206 set that has fascinated hobbyists for a full century. And one hundred years after Cobb and Wagner battled for supremacy in the sixth edition of the Fall Classic, their rivalry continues.

Graded PSA NM-MT 8. Of the Thousands of "Portrait-Red" entries, approx 10% are confirmed with the "Polar Bear" brand. That is aside when as one is captivated by the deep colors and tight registration of his now iconic portrait. Corners and surfaces are borderline "as issued" with a stunning absence of wear. A gorgeous representation for the uncompromising collector. Overall, one of nineteen in NM-MT with two (both are 8.5s) rated higher. This is the only card with none higher with a confirmed Polar Bear reverse.
