Description

1909-11 T206 Piedmont 150 Napoleon Lajoie (Portrait) PSA NM 7 - Pop Two, Two for Brand/Series. Iconic portrait card featuring Hall of Famer Napoleon Lajoie as a member of the Cleveland Naps. Lajoie was the first player to cover second base inducted into the Hall of Fame. His storied career lasted for 21 years and helped bring the American League from infancy to respectability. In 1910, the 35-year old beat out 23-year old Ty Cobb by one point in the batting race (.384 to .383). Cobb had sat out the final two games of the 1910 season, hoping to hold on to his lead, but Lajoie played in a season ending doubleheader and racked up eight hits. Corners show only a minimal amount of wear at the outer tips. Surfaces are clean and colors are striking. The back displays a "Piedmont - 150 Subjects" ad with factory 25 caption. Graded PSA NM 7.One of two graded NM with two rated higher among cards confirmed with this brand/series.
