Description

1909-11 T206 Piedmont 150 Chief Bender (Portrait) PSA Mint 9 - Pop Two, None Higher With This Brand & Series! Born in Crow Wing County, Minnesota to a German father and part-Chippewa mother, young Charles Bender rose up through the famous Carlisle Indian School to become one of the top pitching aces of the Dead Ball Era. During the time of Connie Mack's fabled $100,000 Infield, Bender was a masterful craftsman recording four sub-2.00 ERA seasons and helping to acquire three World Championships. Ty Cobb called him the most intelligent pitcher he ever faced. In the eyes of many, he has never gotten his rightful due in baseball's long history. Many point to his Hall of Fame induction which did not come until 1953.

Graded PSA Mint 9. Overall, PSA has currently graded more than 700 cards with his famed portrait. Just over eight are confirmed with this brand & series combination, two of which are graded MINT. The back displays "Piedmont- 150 Subjects" advertising with a factory 25 caption. What finer way to do your part in celebrating his talent than adding this T206 of Bender to your collection which is among the finest examples known on the planet. Sharp corners, precise centering and rich, saturated hues. An extraordinary relic commemorating one of the great gentlemen of the Dead Ball Era game. Taking into account all T206 brands/series/factory combinations, this is one of three in Mint with none higher.
