    Description

1907-09 PC805 Novelty Cutlery Ty Cobb SGC 50 VG/EX 4. The use of postcards was very popular in the early 20th century and not just for letting Grandma know you were thinking about her, they were also collected. One scarce set of baseball players is the 1907-09 set of 25 subjects which is today one of the more challenging issues. With their scarcity and lengthy roster of the greatest players of the era the PC805 entry has remined very popular in the hobby after more than a century since their release. Our offered example features a youngster on the Detroit Tigers who would become a legend - Ty Cobb! This thigh-high, batting portrait of the great Cobb is a perfect depiction of baseball's greatest batsmen. There is one minor edge chipping and one light crease in the lower right corner. The central portrait is totally unaffected by any creases/wear. Graded SGC 50 VG/EX 4. Pop two graded VG-EX with two higher. One of only six total examples graded by SGC.
