Description

1888 N162 Goodwin "Champions" Cap Anson (With Lithographer Credit) PSA EX-MT 6. Goodwin's "Champions" edition summed up in one word one of the best tobacco card productions of the 19th Century. Featuring an array of athletes from various sporting endeavors, none are more sought after than the eight baseball players and the undisputed key subject is Chicago 1st Baseman Adrian "Cap" Anson. The offered example is bright and clean with minor condition issues including varying degrees of corner/edge wear and less than precise centering. Anson was a prominent member of the 19th Century baseball community and the N162 which bears his portrait is one of his best cardboard keepsakes. Graded PSA EX-MT 6. One of six graded EX-MT with seven rated higher. The revers does display the Geo. Harris & Sons, Lith. Phila" credit caption.
