Description

1888 E223 G&B Chewing Gum Roger Connor (Portrait) PSA Good 2 (MK) - The Only PSA-Graded Example! George Connor was Babe Ruth, before there was Babe Ruth. Connor was well-known in his day, but he was thought of as a giant of a man who was an outstanding player. Back in the 19th Century, a player of Connor's 6'3", 220 lbs. was a giant, and his size was the main impetus for the New York Gothams changing their name to Giants in 1885. As incredible as it may seem, the man who held the career home run record prior to Ruth never led the league in home runs. Connor finished 12 times in the top ten National League homer hitters during his 17-year career. Offered is his very rare 1888 E223 G&B Chewing Gum card, the only example under the PSA brand and SGC only offers just two others. Graded PSA Good 2 (MK). The only example graded by PSA.
