1887-90 N172 Old Judge Connie Mack (#285-1) SGC Good 2 - Only Three Confirmed SGC Examples. If you didn't recognize this youngster you are not alone. Our offered card features Cornelius Alexander McGillicuddy or "Connie Mack." The man who managed a remarkable 7,755 games over the course of a half-century with the Philadelphia Athletics and Pittsburgh Pirates was once a player. The Philadelphia Athletics captured five World Series titles under his guidance. His career came to an end at the age of 87. We think of him as the elder statesmen guiding his ship, not the young man who played for eleven seasons starting in 1886. Mack appears in very few vintage card sets, his N172 cards are among his rarest and they are his rookie card debut. Pose: #285-1 Throwing, Right Hand Neck High. Caption: MACK, C. Washington. Grade: SGC Good 2. Photo Quality: Very-Good.
