    Description

1860's Civil War Era Baseball Letter. 1960's Civil War era four-page letter was written by a young man to his cousin at Miami University of Ohio: "Base Ball is as popular among the students as ever. I suppose it seems to be here. The club have been practicing out at the fairground every day for the festival which takes place next week. I do not know whether they expect to play a match game with any other club or not." Also mentions that a "procession of soldiers is to be formed which headed by the band is to march to the cemetery and different graveyards scattering flowers on the graves."
