    Description

Mid-1980's Ozzie Smith Game Worn Jersey. Widely considered one of the greatest defensive infielders of all time, with thirteen consecutive Gold Gloves to prove it, the "Wizard of Oz" was a fixture of the St. Louis Cardinals line-up for a decade and a half. This road grey gamer dates from early in that lengthy tenure, sporting the number "1" on front and back that will never again grace a Cardinals uniform. The classic chenille birds and bat logo on chest is balanced on verso by a gently arching "O. Smith" across the shoulders at rear. For reasons unknown, the name was repositioned by the team at some point, leaving the outline of its former placement visible, though the fine, consistent wear and the "Game Worn" inscription added to Smith's 10/10 blue sharpie signature on the chest assure action upon his Hall of Fame frame. "Rawlings" label inside front left tail holds Smith's proper size "38" designation, but is missing the year tag, suggesting, along with the repositioning of the name, that the shirt was reconditioned for use as a back-up in a later season. Fine wear and regal parentage makes this a Cooperstown-quality collectible. LOA from Lou Lampson. LOA from PSA/DNA (autograph). LOA from James Spence Authentication (autograph).
