    Description

Circa 1957 Milwaukee Braves Game Worn Warm-Up Jacket. When it came to 1940's and 1950's Major League fashion, nobody could match the style of the Braves franchise, who artfully appropriated the imagery of Native Americans for their jerseys and jackets. Here we find an example of the latter, constructed of black satin sail cloth in a letterman style. The beautiful tomahawk logo underscores a scripted "Braves" upon the button-front chest, and striped elasticized cuffing appears at collar, sleeve ends and waist. This particular garment once belonged to bullpen catcher Hawk Taylor, whose surname appears upon an embroidered swatch beneath the "Wilson [size] 46" interior collar tagging. Absent the typical moth damage one normally encounters on jackets from this era, this one retains marvelous visual appeal and will definitely add some much-needed style to your trophy room. LOA from Lou Lampson. Guide Value or Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500.
