    Description

Circa 1954 Larry Jansen Game Worn New York Giants Jersey with Pants. The MacGregor tagging style at interior collar provides our vintage, as earlier versions have a different format and Jansen left the club after the World Championship. We find his name on an embroidered swatch beneath that "Size 46" tagging, and the original "New York" across chest. He signs at interior collar in 9/10 blue sharpie. Minor league secondary use has resulted in the loss of the sleeves and a number change on verso. It also appears the tail has been hemmed. Matching pants are tagged "Rawlings Hall of Fame Flannel [size] 36" with a "Set 1 1955" flap tag. Number "23" written at interior waistband suggests original ownership by Hoot Evers, though it's possible the number relates to a minor leaguer too. Heavy red dye staining appears below knees. Certainly far from an ideal specimen, but the possible connection to that glorious 1954 season carries undeniable appeal. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
