    Worn in fifty-four games!

2016 Bryce Harper Game Worn Washington Nationals Jersey with Extensive Photo Matching.
For decades of Major League Baseball history, a universal uniform trend prevailed: two homes and two roads per player, an edict which applied to superstars and benchwarmers alike. But in more recent years, particularly for the biggest names in the game, the flood gates have opened to feed the demand of memorabilia collectors, with many All-Stars wearing new jerseys in each and every game.

For one young superstar, however, superstition would trump commerce, identifying Harper as the game's most challenging figure for game worn jersey collectors. Beyond four special event jerseys (Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Father's Day, Negro Leagues Tribute), this is the only road jersey used by the reigning National League MVP during the 2016 season. This represents fifty-two regular season and two postseason games of action. Harper's stat line for these games: 244 plate appearances, .253 average with eight home runs (including an April 19 grand slam), twelve doubles, twenty-seven RBI's, thirty-three runs scored and four stolen bases. Milestones achieved in this shirt include 600th hit, 300th RBI, 400th run scored and 300th walk.

The road grey "Flex Base" garment features "Washington 34" in red, white and blue tackle twill on the chest, with "Harper 34" taking up the rear. Team logo and "2016 Postseason" patches adorn left and right sleeves respectively. Lower left front tail holds "Majestic Authentic Collection Size 48" label, while a secondary "Majestic" tag appears at lower button path.

As one might expect, the garment exhibits fantastic game wear throughout, the tackle twill soft from sweat and laundering, some pine tar staining still evident at the shoulder. Rear tail reveals a lengthy team repair, Harper's method of marking his favorite, season-long jerseys to distinguish them from the rest. This practice is referenced in a Washington Post article, supplied with the lot.

The jersey was acquired directly from the Nationals baseball club and was extensively photo matched by Sports Investors Authentication, whose paperwork attends. This is unquestionably one of the most appealing "modern" jerseys that Heritage has had the good fortune to offer to our bidding clientele. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
