2005 Trot Nixon Opening Day Game Issued Boston Red Sox Jersey. . Opening Day is a special time of year throughout the baseball world. But in 2005, Opening Day was an entirely different cause for celebration. Eighty-six years of frustration and heartache were finally put to rest as the Red Sox comfortably slipped championship rings onto their fingers. To commemorate that special occasion, the team incorporated metallic gold into their jersey scheme. The traditional two-color tackle twill identifiers also had a little gold built in for good measure. Accentuating the left sleeve is a "2004 World Series Champions" circular patch worn only for the ring ceremony contest. Red Sox favorite Trot Nixon sported this "Majestic [size] 48" home jersey during the opening of the baseball season. Light wear is visible on the jersey, acceptable given the fact it was worn for only a game. Applied in the tail is a Majestic tag and "7 48 05" swatch. Majestic's special "0062" inventory coded tag is secured inside. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
