    Description

2003 Roger Clemens Game Worn Jersey. An historic season for this first-ballot Hall of Famer and seven-time Cy Young Award winner, as the 2003 season saw the Rocket enter the esteemed 300 Win Club, and become one of only three pitchers in the game's history to reach the 4,000 strike out mark. Anyone well-versed in the game worn uniform collecting hobby is aware of the tremendous difficulty involved in acquiring Yankee jerseys dating between 1998 and 2004, when Steinbrenner's management levied tight controls on all team-issued articles, allowing almost nothing to escape to the marketplace. As is typically the case in such a scenario, the occasional low-level player will occasionally be seen, but the appearance of a Roger Clemens jersey from this era is particularly noteworthy. But a jersey worn by this top-tier legend during this most remarkable of seasons makes for a piece that will someday be seen in the same light as a 1936 Hubbell or a 1965 Koufax.

This home white pinstriped New York Yankees jersey shows fine wear from time on the Bronx mound with perhaps the greatest pitcher in the game's history. Classic "NY" logo appears over the heart, with Clemens' number "22" in identical navy tackle twill on verso. The Yankee Centennial patch properly finds a home on the left sleeve. The tail tagging demonstrates strong wear from washings and body sweat, with the "Russell Athletic Authentic Collection" label affixed with flap tags reading "52 100% Polyester" and "+2" Extra Length." The "2003" year tag is sewn to the right. Noteworthy is the absence of the "Russell" sleeve logo, which is proper for Yankee gamers from this era, and an automatic tip-off of a problem if it does appear. A strong example of a Clemens Yankees gamer, earning the highest possible grade for a gamer without verifiable provenance, A5. LOA from Dave Bushing. LOA from Lou Lampson.
