    Description

2001 Barry Bonds Career Home Run #553 Game Worn Jersey. Home white San Francisco Giants jersey is the very one worn by the controversial slugger as he deposited the first pitch of his seventh inning at bat against Arizona's Miguel Batista into McCovey Cove 420 feet from home plate. It would bring Bonds' season total to fifty-nine home runs, well en route to his record-setting seventy-three. As Bonds notes along with his black sharpie signature and home run total on the jersey's rear, the date was "9/4/01," just one week before the attacks that would change the course of American history forever. While Bonds' current status in our National Pastime is the source of heated debate, as are the legitimacy of his home run records, one could be reasonably assured that Bonds' 2001 home run jerseys will one day be viewed much like artifacts from the 1919 White Sox due to the tremendous relevance, positive or negative, within the game's history. And, of course, the jersey's proximity in action to September 11, 2001 will likewise assure its future value.

The massive off-white knit gamer sports the Old English "Giants" in tri-color tackle twill across the chest, and Bonds' number "25" on verso. Team logo patch is affixed at left sleeve. "Russell Athletic Authentic Collection" label is straight-stitch affixed at lower left front tail, with Bonds' personal marketing company patch sewn just below. Wear is definite, but understandably light for a season that saw Bonds changing uniforms often for marketing purposes. Included is Bonds' authentication certificate, autographed in his hand. LOA from Lou Lampson. LOA from James Spence Authentication (autograph). COA from Barry Bonds.
