2001 Albert Pujols Game Worn St. Louis Cardinals #68 Spring Training Jersey With Team Provenance. He wasn't supposed to make the team. But all Albert Pujols did was hit, hit and hit some more during Spring Training of 2001. Injuries, coupled with a hot bat, allowed the upstart to travel north for the beginning of the '01 season. Pujols carried over his successful start to the big leagues as he claimed Rookie of the Year honors and began a Hall of Fame career. Used during that remarkable start in 2001 is this "Rawlings [size] 46" road jersey. Authentication is secured with a Cardinals Care letter stating this very jersey was worn and signed by Pujols. Pujols is listed in the 2001 Cardinals media guide as #68. He did wear #68 and #36 that initial spring. Numerous baseball cards show him wearing both numbers. Moderate use is exhibited throughout with puckering and fraying on the two-tone tackle twill identifiers. "Cardinals 68" is featured on front while "Pujols 68" takes form on the reverse. Four labels appear in the inner tail: "Rawlings" (JSA sticker affixed), "Set 1 2000," "2 Inch Shorter Length" and size. It is clearly acceptable that this jersey was tagged for use in 2000 given the fact Pujols was a spring hopeful with a high number. Teams traditionally do carry over jerseys from year to year. Pujols put the finishing touches on this historic garment with a black felt tip signature on back. A JSA full letter authenticates the penning. Authentication, check. Use, check.
