1999 Tony Gwynn 3,004th Hit Game Worn & Signed San Diego Padres Jersey with Gwynn COA. Historic jersey worn by Mr. Padre when he registered his 3,004th career hit on August 9, 1999 versus the Expos at Montreal.Midnight navy alternate knit displays "Padres" diagonally scripted across the chest, with "19" offset below, and "Gwynn" arched on the verso, with "19" below. "Russell Athletic/Diamond Collection 50" label in the tail displays "3004" inscription in vintage black ink to memorialize the occasion. Also, the verso is signed "Tony Gwynn" in 10/10 vintage black sharpie with "Authentic Sports Investments 41553" serialized holographic sticker affixed above.
This jersey has a lot going for it, including, 1) The Padres thirtieth anniversary patch is correctly positioned on the left sleeve; 2) The "3004" inscription on the Russell Athletic label is in the same hand as other known Gwynn exemplars (namely, hit numbers 3,016 and 3,017); and 3) The wear is what it should be -- light but decently light.
