1998 Tony Gwynn Hit #2,869 Game Worn & Signed San Diego Padres Jersey with Family Letter. It was commonly theorized that, if anyone was going to end Ted Williams' reign as the last man to bat .400, it would be Gwynn. And while he never quite cleared the bar, the Padres superstar remains the only man whose playing career began after World War II listed in the top twenty for lifetime average. Here we present a home white pinstriped gamer from late in that Hall of Fame career, worn during San Diego's National League Championship season. "Padres" angles across the chest in tri-tone tackle twill, with "Gwynn 19" balancing the design on verso. Team logo patch is applied at left sleeve. The tail has a "Russell Athletic size 50" tag joined by a fabric content flag tag. Gwynn signed the reverse "1" in silver paint pen. A letter of provenance, signed by Gwynn's wife, confirms this was used June 28, 1998 when Gwynn notched hit number 2,869. A few indentations from framing are visible below team name. Letter of provenance from Alicia Gwynn. LOA from Sports Investors Authentication. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
