Description

1998 Mike Piazza Game Worn New York Mets Jersey.
One of the best hitting catchers in history, Mike Piazza earned twelve All-Star berths, belted over 400 home runs, batted a career .308, and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2016.

During the 1998 season, Piazza played for the Dodgers, Marlins and Mets. Despite the three stops, he turned in one of the finest offensive campaigns of his career, batting .328 with thirty-two home runs, 111 RBI, plus an impressive thirty-eight doubles and eighty-eight runs scored. But it was with the Metropolitans that he played the majority of the season and unleashed the bulk of his fury, hitting at a blistering .348 clip.

The Hall of Famer put outstanding use into this "AIS size 50" road jersey. The reverse shows pilling marks from where the catcher's equipment rubbed against the jersey. The button-down, grey knit has "New York 31" across the front and "Piazza 31" on the verso, all in three-color drop shadow tackle twill. A large, circular Mets skyline patch on the left shoulder puts the finishing touches on one of the era's most spectacularly fashionable uniform styles. The rear interior holds manufacturer's and size labels. One of the finest Piazza Mets jerseys we have handled. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
