1997 Nomar Garciaparra Game Worn Boston Red Sox Rookie Jersey. It was a landslide victory for the young shortstop in Rookie of the Year voting, with Nomar claiming all twenty-eight first place votes on the strength of his American League-leading tallies in hits and triples, along with his elite defensive capabilities. Tragically Garciaparra was traded to the Chicago Cubs midway through the 2004 season, and thus denied the joy that would come at the close of the season when the Sox finally ended the eighty-six years of the Curse of the Bambino. "Nomah" is still beloved in Beantown though, and this is arguably the most important jersey ever offered from his six-time All-Star career. "Red Sox" is applied in classic Old English font on the chest, with number "5" applied to verso. Right sleeve patch recognizes the Golden Anniversary of integrated baseball. Lower left front tail is tagged "Russell Athletic Diamond Collection [size] 44" with "100% Polyester" and "1997" secondary tags below. Solid game wear. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
