    Description

1991 Rickey Henderson Game Worn Jersey. For the savvy collector, bidding on this lot should be an absolute "no brainer." Henderson's first ballot Hall of Fame induction is as inevitable as death and taxes, and his wait will be up in 2009. Henderson's outrageous 1,406 stolen bases places him close to five hundred past Lou Brock at number two, making Rickey the owner (along with Cy Young's wins and Nolan Ryan's strike outs) of one of the sport's most bulletproof records. The offered home white jersey dates from the eleventh and final season of a twelve-year stretch in which Henderson led the American League in base thefts, just a year after he claimed the Junior Circuit's MVP Award. The home white shirt provides a green and yellow tackle twill "Athletics 24" on the chest, and "Henderson 24" on reverse. Elephant logo patch appears on left sleeve. Interior front left tail "Rawlings [size] 42" label sprouts a "Set 1 1991" flap tag at right. Wear is light but definite. An important artifact from one of the most dynamic superstars of the post-war era. LOA from Lou Lampson. Guide Value or Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500.
