1990 Joe DiMaggio Old Timers Day Worn Jersey. Returning to the same hallowed ground that he first claimed as his own fifty-four years earlier, "Joltin' Joe" DiMaggio once again soaked in the cheers and adoration of a Bronx crowd on Old Timers Day in 1990 while suited up in this very jersey. He may have been seventy-six years old when he wore it, but there's no denying the thrill of holding a Yankee pinstriped jersey with the fabled number "5" on the back. There is also no denying that most of us couldn't possibly pony up the stack of cash it would require to purchase a Yankees jersey from DiMaggio's active career, so this offering represents a rare and welcome opportunity to own the shirt off this sporting legend's back for those of us who still need to feed and clothe our families. The simple majesty of the design mirrors that of the flannels the Clipper wore in the field, with the classic "NY" design over the heart and the retired digit on verso. The number "1" patch on the sleeve, memorializing Billy Martin who perished in a Christmas 1989 automobile accident, is removed but leaves a clearly visible outline. An embroidered "90" year swatch is sewn inside the collar, and "Wilson [size] 44" tagging appears in tail. Originally acquired directly from Bert Padell, the Yankees equipment manager. LOA from Lou Lampson.
