Description
1988 Kevin Mitchell Game Worn & Signed San Francisco Giants Jersey. Mitchell's 1988 road gray gamer, which dates from the season before his N.L. MVP campaign, displays interlocking "SF" over the left chest and "Mitchell" arched on verso nameplate with "7" below, all sewn-on in black on orange tackle twill. Orange/gray/black trim enhances the ribbed sleeve cuffs, while black piping slithers around the collar and button path. Interior Rawlings tagging denotes size ("46"), player ("9"), and "Set 1 1988." The interior button path is also stamped "Purchased From San Francisco Giants" in black. Exhibits medium wear. Furthermore, the jersey is signed and inscribed "Kevin Mitchell #7" in 9/10 vintage black sharpie.Note: Bob Melvin wore the jersey before Mitchell and the outline of his "9" can be seen under Mitchell's "7."
This lot was part of a large consignment of game worn jerseys from a single collector who obtained them directly from trainers, equipment managers, and team-connected dealers during the the 1980's and 1990's. This exemplar was obtained by our consignor from noted collector/dealer Louie Avon in the 1980's. Full LOA from Beckett Authentication Services. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
