1987 Wade Boggs Game Worn Boston Red Sox Jersey. As far as contact hitters go, Wade Boggs ranks near the top. The Chicken Man made a science out of hitting a baseball just out of the infielder's reach on a regular basis. In 1987, Boggs was his consistent self and hit at an amazing .363 clip, swatted a career-high 24 home runs and walked 125 times which further established his unique eye for selecting only the finest of pitches. Showing tremendous wear is this "Rawlings [size] 42" road representation. Each of the single-color midnight navy identifiers has puckered and frayed consistently. "Boston" is displayed on front while "26" takes residence on back. 1987 was the first year Rawlings created jerseys for the Bo Sox. The left sleeve is decorated with a Fenway Park 75 years patch. Applied in the tail are two labels - "Rawlings [size] 42" and "Set 1 1987" flag tag. A few of the threads on the Rawlings label have pulled away on the upper right corner. The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
